I’d like to help you untangle some of your knots.

I created Jaime Brown Consulting because I love helping community benefit organizations untangle complex, knotty issues and deliver clarity and useful insights to help them do their best work in helping others.

You need to distill complex information into clear, actionable messages that will motivate different groups of stakeholders to act.

Pressed with increasing resource constraints, your organization needs to find ways to do things differently. You need to clarify strategic priorities and maximize efficiency without sacrificing impact or effectiveness. These tough decisions need to be evidence-based and made in collaboration with a diverse group of stakeholders.

You need grants to enable you to do important work in your community but you need help demonstrating to funders how your work aligns with their goals and how your project will make a positive impact.

I help non-profit, public-sector and community-benefit organizations use evidence to make wise decisions, clarify their purpose, refine their strategy, improve performance and communicate about the meaningful impact they’re making.

You’re leading important work to improve people’s lives in your community, your province, or maybe across the country… but the work is complex and you need help to SHOW that you’re making impact.

Here’s how I can help

  • Evaluation, performance measurement and organizational learning

  • Research and stakeholder engagement

  • Clarity mapping and strategic planning

  • Knowledge mobilization and writing services: Reports, evidence briefs, grants, etc

  • Training and facilitation.

I help organizations whose mandate is to help others.

I’m Jaime Brown and for two decades, I’ve been working with non-profit, public sector and community-benefit organizations to help them:

• Clarify and deliver on their strategy.
• Measure, understand and communicate about the impact they’re making.
• Learn and grow from evidence and the insights of their teams, partners and stakeholders.

I have a PhD in Applied Social Psychology, with specialized training and experience in academic and community-based research, evaluation, implementation science, strategic planning and theories of change, knowledge mobilization, program and system design, community development and engagement, teaching, coaching and facilitation.

That means I’m a consultant with deep and varied toolbox I can draw from to ensure we use the right tools for the right job.

I’ve consulted with grassroots and community organizations, all three levels of government, and academic and grant-making organizations across the following sectors:

• Health

• Mental health and addictions

• Disability

• Social services

• Housing

• Justice

• Community food security

• Poverty reduction

  • “I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Jaime Brown on two significant Ontario School Boards' Association initiatives which resulted in the publication of two key deliverables in the form of a Position Paper and a Discussion Paper. Jaime is excellent to work with, is collaborative, very approachable, a good listener and outstanding researcher and writer. As part of the process Jaime sought out multiple perspectives from many different stakeholder groups in order to facilitate consensus on not only complex political issues, but also regarding next steps and recommendations. She is a consummate professional who goes above and beyond and I would not hesitate to hire her again.”

    – Judith Nyman, Director of Program Policy, Ontario Public School Boards' Association

  • “I have had the unique privilege of working with Jaime in her role as Director, Knowledge Mobilization at our Knowledge Institute, and more recently as a consultant. In both roles, Jaime has brought strategic thinking and vision to all of her work. She is able to skillfully and seamlessly manage complex, system-level projects while successfully managing their political elements and navigating delicate relationships. Jaime listens carefully to the client’s needs and is able to understand and unpack “thorny issues”, generate solutions, and communicate and implement changes with finesse. Jaime ensures a very high standard of quality in everything she does, and always delivers on her commitments with colleagues and partners, often going above and beyond what is required. On a personal note, Jaime is compassionate, engaging and very approachable – all qualities that make her well suited to the applied projects she pursues, and an enjoyable colleague and collaborator.”

    – Dr. Purnima Sundar, Executive Director, Knowledge Institute on Child and Youth Mental Health and Addictions; Co-chair, Ontario Coalition for Children and Youth Mental Health
